Glasses Direct, the online spectacles store, has taken over online trader Sunglasses Shop.
The two brands will remain distinct, but both will be owned by Prescription Eyewear
, the parent company of Glasses Direct.Glasses Direct was founded in 2004 by firsttime entrepreneur Jamie Murray Wells.
It employs 75 and has offices in London and Swindon.
Southend-based Sunglasses Shop was set up in 2003 by art school graduate Daniel Puddick and consultant Dagmara Barcz.
It sells designer sunglasses across Europe and has websites in 12 languages.
